Rui V. is an 22 year-old portuguese photographer who dislikes to be classified or categorized. He prefers to let the viewer decide and define his art.
Rui V. never explains his imagery because, he feels that to explain an image is to supress the enjoyment and wonder of his art.He is influenced by the early simbolists belief that "the creation of a mood is as important as the transmission of information, (it must also) seek to engage the entire mind and personality of the viewer by appealing to the viewer's emotions and unconscious mind, as well as to their intellect and feelings." Rui V. never limits himself. His art is driven by his thoughts, by his emotions, by the good and bad things in life, by darkness and lightness, by whatever you may wonder about his images. The most of his artistic images are extremely significant and personal for him. Because he doesn't know who he realy is he hopes that people recognize themselfs in him.
